Poysdorf is located in the northern Weinviertel on Brünner Straße, in the Weinviertel hill country and in the valley of the Poybach, which flows into the Zaya between Rannersdorf an der Zaya and Hauskirchen.

The Jakobsweg Weinviertel, which has been signposted since 2010, leads through the municipality, coming from the Holy Mountain near Nikolsburg Svatý kopeček u Mikulova in the South Moravian town of Nikolsburg im Okres Břeclav to Krems an der Donau and is part of the Via Francigena and Via Slavica.
