When Siegfried goes out into the world to do new things, he finally meets Hagen, Alberich's son. With cunning and a magic potion, Hagen succeeds in dividing Siegfried and Brünnhilde and finally murdering the hero. 

But he does not win the ring: Brünnhilde gives it back to the Rhine daughters before she burns herself with Siegfried's body. At the same time, the fire consumes the Valhalla Castle of the Gods - their time is over. But nature continues, and with it the human race.
