Wagner's complete “Ring des Nibelungen” will be performed open air for the first time.
The Ring of the Nibelung will be in the open air at the Weinviertel Festival in 2021 for the first time in the 145-year history of performance - Open air - listed. The Limberg-Maissau rock arena is located in the oldest part of the largest open-pit mining area in Central Europe and is due to the special shape of the rock walls Performances without reinforcement in the open air too. No other work is as closely interwoven with nature as the “Ring of the Nibelung”. It is not without reason that Tolkien's “Lord of the Rings” was also inspired by Wagner's tetralogy. The four elements earth, water, fire and air play a central role in this work. Spectacular projections, 3D mappings as well as fantasy elements are used in combination with the impressive Natural backdrop embed the "ring" in nature.
Stars of the Wagner world such as Anna Gabler, Martina Serafin, Günther Groissböck, Tomasz Konieczny, Thomas J. Mayer, Renè Pape and Peter Svensson could already be seen on stage at the first Weinviertel Festival 2020. And also for 2021 some of these artists (such as Tomasz Konieczny) as well as many other well-known and popular Wagner singers assured their participation.
The musical direction is again in the trusted hands of Music director Matthias Fletzberger, for the The director is Manfred Schweigkofler intended. The exact line-up for the individual works will be announced in the coming months.
The Weinviertel Festival will be on Friday, July 2nd, 2021 at 8 p.m. with a glamorous Gala under the motto “Wagner & More“Opened.
